Community Posts
What are Community posts on YouTube?
Community posts are the text, image, poll, quiz and video updates a YouTube channel publishes outside its videos. They show up on the channel's Posts tab and Posts shelf, and can also appear on viewers' homepage and Subscriptions feed. Subscribers may get a notification when you post.
Why posts matter for a channel
Posts keep a channel present between uploads. You can tease the next video, ask a question, run a poll or share an image without publishing anything to the watch page. Image posts may additionally show on the Shorts feed, and engaging with other creators' posts may increase the chance of your viewers seeing those posts across YouTube.
For a practical walkthrough, read the SubSub guide on using the Community tab for engagement.
How to create a post
Sign in to YouTube.
At the top of the page, select Create, then Create post.
Type a message, or pick a video, poll, quiz or image post from the menu.
Select Post.
To publish later, click the down arrow next to Post, select Schedule post, then choose a date, time and time zone.
Format limits: up to 10 images per post, 16 MB per file, in JPG, PNG, GIF or WEBP, with a suggested 1:1 aspect ratio. Text poll options run to 65 characters and image poll captions to 36 characters, with up to 4 options either way. Quiz answers allow 80 characters, or 30 characters when an image is attached, with 1 correct answer and an optional explanation of up to 500 characters.
To mention another channel, type @ followed immediately by its handle or channel name.
Where to find and manage your posts
Open YouTube Studio, select Content in the left menu, then the Posts tab. Scheduled posts sit in the "Scheduled" section and expired ones in "Archived" — both are visible only to you.
Posts are not available if you are using a supervised account or your channel is set as Made for Kids. Access can also change based on your channel role, and posts are not currently available in Germany. YouTube limits how many posts a channel can create in a 24-hour period; if you hit a "limit reached" message, try again in 24 hours.
