🚀 The State of YouTube 2026: Creators’ Guide to What’s Coming

Super Chat

What is Super Chat on YouTube?

Super Chat is a YouTube fan funding feature that lets a viewer pay to highlight their message in live chat during a live stream or Premiere. The message appears in a coloured bar at the top of the chat feed, and the creator keeps a share of that payment.

Super Stickers work the same way but deliver an animated image instead of a text message. YouTube groups both features under the name Supers. The more a viewer spends, the longer their message stays pinned at the top of the feed.

How much creators earn

Creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google. YouTube calculates that 70% after local sales tax and App Store fees on iOS are deducted, and currently covers transaction costs such as credit card fees.

Because the money comes straight from viewers, Supers income does not track advertiser demand the way YouTube monetization through ads does. Many creators run it next to channel memberships, which bring recurring monthly payments rather than one-off ones. Our guide to fan funding covers how the formats stack up together.

Who can turn on Super Chat

YouTube sets 3 minimum requirements for every fan funding feature:

  • Your channel is in the YouTube Partner Program.

  • You are at least 18 years old.

  • You live in a country or region where the feature is available.

Super Chat and Super Stickers add 2 further conditions: your country is on YouTube's official availability list, and you (and your MCN) have accepted and are complying with YouTube's terms and policies, including the relevant Commerce Product Module.

Where Super Chat does not appear

Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable on 5 kinds of video: age-restricted, unlisted, private, made for kids, and videos carrying a YouTube Giving fundraiser. They also do not appear when live chat or comments are turned off.

How to check your Supers earnings

Open YouTube Studio on a computer, select Earn in the left menu, then open the Supers tab. The activity card lists your newest Super Chat and Super Sticker purchases, and YouTube keeps purchase details there for the past 30 days.
